Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, the American and British sitarist. She was also the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student of Ravi Shankar and is also his daughter. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life traveling between London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. She graduated in 1999 from her high school studies within Encinitas CA. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording career. She has been performing with her father in the stage for a long time. In 1998 she released her debut self-titled album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. As she's appeared on all the major stages in across the globe, she's career on stage has been expansive. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to music. Bapi The love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. She's also appeared in. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka shankar is a rising star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of time between London and Delhi in her early years. After that, she moved to California to attend high school. at the age of nine, she started studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Her father traveled around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new experience. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of music in Asian Arts.
